This was never meant to make it to the comics page. It was more of an exercise with using a grass texture overlaying an orange background. I then sketched this out with a white brush and got my wife to chuckle. That’s all I needed, so here it is.
The Vergrinn War – Book 1: The Risen Spear by Scott Biddle
by admin on May 11, 2012 at 1:40 pmA friend of mine, Scott Biddle, wrote a really good book and asked if I would help him with the cover. Naturally I accepted–I was delighted to get to work on the project. First off, I really enjoyed the book and I recommend it to anyone interested in fantasy adventure. I made a few different covers but narrowed the drafts down to these two:
Scott decided to release his book a couple of chapters at a time on his website: http://scottbiddle.wordpress.com, or if you’re like me and don’t want to wait, you can get the book on Amazon for $.99!
I have the honor of getting to read the next book before he publishes it. I think I’ll start working on covers for it soon!
As an exercise, I decided to randomly take two photos and combine them. This resulted. Kind of spooky!
I created this image to enter in a Facebook album of Atlas Shrugged fan art. I was thrilled to see so many people like it. There were a couple of requests for a poster, I’m not sure the resolution is high enough for a really big poster, but I added it to my zazzle store for other possible uses.

I saw a photo of this young girl landing a difficult gymnastics move. She looked so determined–as a drawing exercise I wanted to see if I could capture that look. I’m happy with the results.
